Sashihara Rino sheds tears during her final performance at the AKB48 theater
HKT48’s Sashihara Rino performed at the Akihabara AKB48 theater on July 23rd. The special event titled, “Sashihara Rino ’s Send-off Party“, was her last at the AKB48 theater. She bid farewell to the Akihabara theater, which holds many memories for her.
During the middle of the event, Sashihara addressed the audience and commented, “There’s no doubt that I’m sad, but at the same time now, I am very positive and full of drive. In this way, everybody will send me off and welcome me to my new start with smiles. I’m very thankful.”
Producer of AKB48, Akimoto Yasushi announced her transfer during a broadcast of “AKB48’s All Night Nippon” in June. On July 5th, Sashihara officially debuted as a member of Team H of HKT48 in Hakata. Due to the sudden nature of the transfer, her last performance as a member as part of Team A of AKB48 was postponed until July 23rd.
The performance is a farewell event for Sashihara, so in addition to the regular repertoire of songs from AKB48 Team A’s 6th stage “Mokugekisha“, the ladies presented “Itoshiki Natasha“, Sashihara’s first song in center position. Sashihara also performed her solo number “Soredemo Suki dayo“. Her new teammates from HKT48 also came onstage.
Sashihara started shedding tears as fellow Team A member Oya Shizuka read a letter from Kitahara Rie to Sashihara. She responded, “When I think about how I won’t be able to perform with Shii-chan (Oya Shizuka) anymore, I feel sad. But anyhow, I will be moving forward with lots of energy.”
The end of the performance was a deeply moving scene, as fans, Team A, and HKT48 members yelled out “Ganbare!” to Sashihara. With this final performance, Sashihara has become a full-fledged HKT48 member. She stated, “I will work hard with my utmost from here on. So please root for me!”
We look forward to her activities with her new team!
