On July 15th, AKB48’s Oshima Yuko appeared at Imado Shrine in Tokyo to pray for the success of Disney-Pixar’s animated film, ‘Merida to Osoroshi no Mori‘ (‘Brave‘).
Oshima voices the protagonist ‘Merida’ in the Japanese dubbed version of the film. During the event, she challenged herself to shooting a bow and arrow. Visibly nervous, she shared, “It’s my first time, so I have to hit the target. I have confidence.” As Oshima hit the bull’s eye on her first try, she exclaimed, “I did it! Wow! I’m glad.”
After praying for the movie’s success, Oshima commented, “The movie takes place in Scotland, so it’s a strange feeling to pray for its success at a shrine in Japan.” Regarding the voiceovers, she reflected, “At first I thought, ‘I’m talking’, but I slowly began to think it was Merida.”
‘Merida to Osoroshi no Mori’ will open in theaters across Japan on July 21st.
