On July 7th, AKB48’s official rival group Nogizaka46 held a handshake event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
The event pulled in the most fans in Nogizaka46’s career with over 8,000 people. With tears in her eyes, captain Sakurai Reika expressed, “I never thought that a day would come where I would be singing in front of so much people.” For the encore, the girls also performed their upcoming 3rd single, “Hashire! Bicycle“, which is scheduled for release on August 22nd.
“Hashire! Bicycle” is described as a refreshing uptempo tune that’s perfect for the summer season. Sakurai introduced the song saying, “This will become a standard song for lives that will get the crowd going .” The 16 senbatsu members including Ikoma Rina, Ikuta Erika, Hoshino Minami, Hashimoto Nanami, Shiraishi Mai, Matsumura Sayuri, Nishino Nanase and Nakada Kana appeared on stage wearing new outfits and excited the crowd with their sexy performance.
After energetically performing 5 songs, Hashimoto commented, “This is the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen. I realized once again how happy I am dancing in front of so many people.” Sakurai also showed her gratitude saying, “Being supported by everybody, we are able to hold lives and live each day.” She continued, “We want to be able to perform on an even bigger stage, and have good times with even more people.”
