Oshima Yuko receives “Cut Above Award for Outstanding Debut” at JAPAN CUTS

It’s been revealed that AKB48 member Oshima Yuko will be receiving the “Cut Above Award for Outstanding Debut” at the North American Japanese film festival, ‘JAPAN CUTS‘.
Oshima expressed her joy saying, “I’ve never received an award as an actress, so when I heard that I’ve been acknowledged at a film festival in New York, I felt very honored.
Oshima plays the heroine in the upcoming film, ‘Yamikin Ushijima-kun‘, which is based on a manga by Manabe Shouhei. It’s story revolves around Ushijima Kaoru, the president of a black market lending company called ‘Cow Cow Finance’, and the unfortunate lives of people in debt. The movie is set to open in theaters on August 25th.
This time, I played a difficult character who wanders from light to darkness. There were many times I was troubled while playing it,” Oshima reflected. “From now on, I want to participate in even more films as the actress Oshima Yuko. I also want to polish myself as a person.
‘JAPAN CUTS’ is North America’s biggest Japanese film festival that will be held for the 6th time this year. Previously, movies such as “Kokuhaku“, “Viyon no Tsuma“, “Death Note“, “Fish Story“, and “Kamome Shokudo” have been screened at this festival.
