On June 14th, AKB48’s Art Club held their own art exhibition at 3331 Arts Chiyoda.
The president of the Art Club, Katayama Haruka, showed off her striking art sense, “For me, I plan on drawing ordinary things, but it seems like those around me think it’s anything but ordinary when they see my work.” Katayama also expressed her hopes of displaying their artwork throughout Japan, “If this (exhibition) is a success, then perhaps we can do it all around the nation.”
AKB48’s Art Club is comprised of 35 members; including some from sister groups SKE48, NMB48, and HKT48. Katayama commented on their artwork in the room. “This is our first time doing an art exhibition. The members did their best with these pieces, so there’s a bit of anxiety in the room now, but I hope they know the fun that goes along with art too.”
The group also unveiled a golden paper-mache of their producer Akimoto Yasushi’s face. Katayama commented, “Akimoto-sensei, come here by all means, I want a photo of you with the gold Yasusu (Akimoto Yasushi).”
AKB48’s Art Club Exhibition will be on display from June 15th until July 8th.
