NMB48’s Jo Eriko graduates from the group
On September 28, NMB48’s Jo Eriko (13) held her graduation concert at NMB48 Theater in Namba, Osaka.
Jo is the center for Team M, and her graduation was held as a part of their recent performance. As previously reported, she decided to graduate from the group in order to focus on her studies.
After performing 17 songs, Jo was moved to tears as she declared, “I don’t regret that I chose to focus on my studies. However, I’m thinking of auditioning for NMB48 in high school. I want to return.” At that moment, the crowd started chanting “come back”.
During the final song, “Boku wa Matteru“, Team N appeared on stage and sang together to see Jo off.

AKB48 cancels handshake event in Osaka due to typhoon
This handshake event commemorates the release of AKB48’s 26th single, “Manatsu no Sounds good!” (released in May). With Typhoon #17 approaching the Kansai district, it was cancelled “considering the safety of the guests.” However, there will be a rescheduled event at a later date.
On the same day, SKE48’s handshake event and HKT48’s performance will be held in Fukuoka. According to the weather forecast, the typhoon will pass from southern Kyushu to Shikoku, and will not approach Fukuoka area. As such, these events will be held as scheduled.
However, they may be cancelled if the typhoon threatens the safety of the event and performance.

Sashihara Rino reveals jacket covers + track list + short PV for “Ikujinashi Masquerade”
“Ikujinashi Masquerade” will be released under the name ‘Sashihara Rino with Anrire‘. Anrire is a unit comprised of AKB48 members Kawaei Rina, Kato Rena, and Iriyama Anna, and they appear in Sashihara’s new artist photo and jacket covers.
The single will be available in 4 different versions: Type A, Type B, Type C, and a Theater Edition. Kawaei is in charge of the center position for Type A’s jacket cover and music video.
For its coupling track, each version will include “Soft Cream・Kiss“. Additionally, Type A will contain “if no Mousou“, which is written by Sashihara herself. Type B will come with a cover for Hirosue Ryoko’s “Maji de Koi Suru 5-byou Mae“, and Type C will contain a Hakata dialect version of “Ikujinashi Masquerade”. Finally, the Theater Edition will include “Tooi Machi e“, which is also written by Sashihara.
“Ikujinashi Masquerade” will be released on October 17th. In the meantime, take a look at the jacket covers, track list, and short PV (Type A version) below!

AKB48 & Terry Ito chosen as the “Kohaku supporters” once again
At the press conference, Terry Ito and AKB48’s Oshima Yuko, Kashiwagi Yuki, Shinoda Mariko, Watanabe Mayu, Kojima Haruna, Takahashi Minami, Minegishi Minami, Shimazaki Haruka, Yokoyama Yui, SKE48’s Matsui Jurina, Matsui Rena, NMB48’s Watanabe Miyuki, Yamamoto Sayaka, and HKT48’s Sashihara Rino all made an appearance, and expressed their eagerness for the program.
The theme of this year’s Kohaku will be “Uta de Aitai. (= Meeting through music)”, and they will start promoting it on various programs and events.
At the press conference, the general manager of AKB group, Takahashi stated earnestly, “This was the year of change for AKB48, as Maeda Atsuko graduated from the group, and we achieved our long-cherished Tokyo Dome concert. It’s no exaggeration to say that ‘The second chapter of AKB48 has begun’. We will try our hardest together to send energy to everybody with the power of music.”
“The 63rd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen” will air from 7:15 pm ~ 11:45 pm on New Year’s Eve.

Watanabe Mayu announces her third single “Hikaru Monotachi”
On September 27, it was announced that AKB48 member Watanabe Mayu is releasing a new single titled “Hikaru Monotachi” on November 21.
Only four months after her previous single “Otona Jelly Beans“, Watanabe is already ready to release her third solo single. The new single is titled “Hikaru Monotachi” and is said to be an up-tempo electronic track.
Watanabe commented, “I’m very happy that I can already release my third single so soon after ‘Otona Jelly Beans’. This new song will be very different from my previous two singles, I had a very fresh feeling during the recording.”
The coupling track for this upcoming single will be “Sayonara no Hashi“, which is the theme song for the upcoming anime movie ‘Nerawareta Gakuen‘ (release: November 10), where the protagonist is being voiced by Watanabe as well.
Those who buy one of the three different first press limited editions will also get a DVD that includes bonus footage, which includes Watanabe sporting different school uniforms from all 47 prefectures of Japan. She commented about this unprecedented project, “It’s so much fun wearing all those cute uniforms from all over the country. You all should certainly look forward to this.”

Former SDN48 member Serina shows off her legs in a cabin attendant costume
On September 26th, former SDN48 member Serina attended a DVD release event for the overseas drama, ‘PAN AM‘.
Set in the 1960’s, ‘PAN AM’ portrays the work and love lives of 4 flight attendants. In association with the drama, Serina appeared at the event in a cabin attendant costume. She showed off her legs and exclaimed, “I want to make it even shorter!” She continued, “I want to be in a relationship that I can be in only now.”
Regarding her costume, Serina expressed, “I’ve admired flight attendants, so I’m happy. I thought that I could go on a plane like this.” She also shared, “I want to be in a secret relationship because of its excitement, but I also want to be in a relationship that’s not a secret,” and talked about her love life during her days as a student, “There was a time when the person I liked had a girlfriend. I waited until he broke up with her to date him. I’m wholehearted.”

AKB48 to release their Tokyo Dome Concert DVD in November
AKB48 fulfilled their dream in August by having a three day concert “AKB48 in TOKYO DOME ~1830m no Yume~” at the Tokyo Dome and now they will be releasing this concert on DVD and Blu-ray on November 28th.
There will be a total of 6 different versions including the First Press Limited Edition that comes in a seven disc special box set, which includes a 132 page photobook, 12 trading cards, and 5 photos.
Maeda Atsuko (21) who graduated after the Dome concert commented, “It was the happiest time in the world for me. I will treasure those three days my entire life.”

AKB48’s Kasai Tomomi promotes horse racing game
AKB48’s Kasai Tomomi attended the “Tokyo Game Show 2012” at the Sega booth.
This past May, Kasai Tomomi was declared the winner of “AKB no Gachi Uma”, for betting on the correct horses for two weeks in a row. “I didn’t know anything about horse racing and the winning combination. My choice was due to simple things like my birthday. I was really surprised.”
Kasai was there to promote the horse racing application for smartphones called “Derby Owners Club”. Kasai commented, “I was really moved, because the horses runs their hardest. Even people who don’t know anything about horse racing can enjoy this game.”
“Derby Owners Club” allows the player to raise a racehorse and enter them in derbies in hopes to win. Famous horses are also featured in the game.

AKB48 research student Saeed Yokota Erena withdraws from group
It’s been revealed that AKB48’s 12th Generation Research Student Saeed Yokota Erena (15) has withdrawn from the group.
AKB48’s official blog explains that Saeed voluntarily put in the request herself.
On the withdrawal, she commented, “I tried to manage both my activities as AKB48 and my studies, but I struggled to do them well. As a result, I’ve come down to this decision. This year I’m preparing myself for high school exams, so I want to devote myself to my studies.” She continued, “The days I spent as a research student for AKB48 were very happy. Until the day we meet again.”
Saeed passed the 12th generation audition in February of last year, and made her theater debut later in May. She represented the research students in AKB48’s ‘3rd Janken Tournament‘ which was held on September 18th at Nippon Budokan.

NMB48 reveals their new single “Kitagawa Kenji” at ‘HEY! HEY! HEY!’
NMB48 revealed their 6th single “Kitagawa Kenji” (release November 7th) during HEY! HEY! HEY!’s three hour special on September 24th.
This program was the first time the group revealed the title of their new track, and even the hosts, Downtown, were surprised. The title is named after AKB48’s staff member Kitagawa Kenji. Yamamoto Sayaka smiled, “I know his face, but I don’t really know much about him. The song isn’t really about him though, it’s about a boy who gets jealous of Kitagawa Kenji.”
This song was also the first NMB48 song that AKB48’s Yokoyama Yui participated in. During the group’s three day performances at Tokyo Dome it was announced that Yokoyama would be joining NMB48 as well as staying in AKB48. There are 16 senbatsu members for this track: Yamamoto Sayaka, Watanabe Miyuki, Yokoyama Yui, Ogasawara Mayu, Kato Yuuka, Kadowaki Kanako, Kishino Rika, Kotani Riho, Jonishi Kei, Shiroma Miru, Tanigawa Airi, Fukumoto Aina, Yagura Fuuko, Yabushita Shu, Yamada Nana, and Yoshida Akari.
SKE48’s latest single sold over 500,000 copies, tops Oricon weekly chart
Popular idol group SKE48’s 10th single, “Kiss Datte Hidarikiki” (released September 19th), has sold 511,000 copies in its first week, and topped the Oricon weekly chart for October 1st.
This is SKE48’s first single to sell over 500,000 units in the first week. The girls have joined Arashi and AKB48 as the only artists in selling over 500,000 copies in the first week since 2007.
SKE48 has topped the Oricon charts 6 consecutive times since their 5th single, “Banzai Venus” (released March of 2011). For female groups, they are tied in third place with Onyanko Club (also 6 consecutive singles). First and second place belongs to AKB48 (14) and Pink Lady (9) respectively.
The girls have also surpassed their own record of first week sales. Their previous record was set with their 8th single, “Kataomoi Finally“, which sold 496,000 copies. Other female groups who have sold over 500,000 singles in the first week include SPEED, Morning Musume, and AKB48.
Meanwhile, SKE48’s first album, “Kono Hi no Chime wo Wasurenai” (released September 19th), sold 111,000 copies in the first week. It ranked 2nd place after Superfly’s 4th album, “Force” (September 19th / 119,000 copies).

HKT48 announces their second generation research students
On September 23rd at HKT48’s theater, the group revealed their second generation.
At the end of Team H’s performance a screen was put on stage that announced the debut of HKT48’s second generation, which caused the venue to cheer. Then the 21 new second generation members appeared on stage and sang AKB48’s hit song “Aitakatta”. After the performance finished, second generation member, Tashima Meru, stepped forward as the group’s representative to greet the audience.
The second generation has an average age of 14.2 years and each member stepped forward to introduce themselves and their personal dream. Tashima Meru said, “I want to be known as HKT48’s sunflower and I’ll be looking toward the center position. I hope to grow with the group in a carefree manner and become someone who puts in a lot of effort. And lastly, my goal is to become a singer and actress. I won’t forget my goals and I’ll work hard.” Next Tomonaga Mio declared her dream, “My dream is for HKT48 to become a group that people around the world are aware of.”
And in the end, HKT48 Theater’s Manager Saito appeared on stage to surprise the members that the first generation research students and second generation research students will begin performing a research student stage beginning on September 30th. The stage setlist will be “PARTY ga Hajimaru yo”. The members showed their surprise and the audience burst into cheers.

NMB48 performs at soccer match in Osaka
NMB48’s 3rd generation performed at Nagai Stadium for the female soccer match. The group performed their first halftime show during Nadeshiko league’s Osaka Takatsuki vs. Niigata.
The group energetically performed their songs “Seishun no Lap Time” and “NAGIICHI”. Yabushita Shu (13) commented, “I don’t really understand the rules of soccer, but I’ve come to like it.”

SKE48’s Inuzuka Asana resumes activities after suspension
Tokyohive previously reported that SKE48 research student Inuzuka Asana had been suspended from all activities due to an e-mail she sent to ‘SKE48 Mail’.
After investigation, it was revealed that Inuzuka Asana had accidentally forwarded an email to “SKE48 Mail” that she had received from a friend. She will resume her activities tomorrow.
Inuzuka wrote, “I take full responsibility for causing this misunderstanding. I am extremely sorry for causing my fans and members to worry. I will do my best to pay careful attention to what I do in the future, so that this doesn’t happen again. And once again I realize the importance of my fans. I’ll never forget this feeling and I’ll do my best to go toward my dream. So, please continue to support me.”

AKB48’s Masuda Yuka promotes her musical “Wiz”
AKB48’s Masuda Yuka (21) made a stop at Sankei Sports’ office in Osaka on the 21st to promote her musical “Wiz” (Wiz ~ Oz no Mahoutsukai). She plays the lead role of Dorothy in Miyamoto Amon’s musical.
The opening performance will take place on the 28th at KAAT Kanagawa Art Theater and will move to Osaka on October 6 and 7th at the Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall, which is why Masuda stopped by to promote in Osaka.
Masuda gave her full attention to the musical, removing herself from AKB48’s first Tokyo Dome concerts and the group’s “29th Single Senbatsu Janken Tournament” on the 18th. “I’ll remove my ’shell’, and I want this to give power to those who are feeling down in Japan now!!”

AKB48’s Matsui Sakiko to host the “79th NHK Nationwide School Music Competition”
AKB48’s Matsui Sakiko has been chosen to host the “79th NHK Nationwide School Music Competition”, which will air from October 6 to the 8th on NHK E-Tele. The competition is commonly referred to as NCon and is the biggest choral competition in Japan. More than 2000 schools participate every year from every age range.
Every year, NCon chooses a J-POP artist for the students to make a rendition. Previous arrangements include Angela Aki’s “Tegami ~Haikei Juugo no Kimi e~” and Ikimonogakari’s “YELL”, and for 2012, YUI’s “fight” was chosen for the middle school group.
Matsui will be debuting with her own piano instrumental album “Kokyuu Suru Piano”, and she is currently enrolled in her university’s school of music. When she was in middle school, she was part of her music club and appeared at NCon for all three years. She says that she often hums the set piece of music from then even now.
Matsui said, “I went to the competition every year, and I watched the national contest every year on TV with my mom, so I was really happy when this was brought up. The event will be broadcast live, so I’ll probably be nervous, but I want to do my very best.”

AKB48’s Itano Tomomi opens her own social network site “Team tomo”
Earlier today, AKB48’s Itano Tomomi updated her blog to let her fans know that she started a new social networking site for her fans.
The site is called “Team tomo” and fans from around the world can join and interact with one another. They can also interact with Itano and her managers. Itano states that fans can submit their favorite pictures of Itano and topics for discussion, as well as respond to other people’s submissions. She promises that her managers and herself will also be posting on the new site.
Registration is free and you can even sign-up using your Facebook account if you wish.
