It was announced that the upcoming horror movie “Kuroyuri Danchi” starring Maeda Atsuko and Narimiya Hiroki will be screened in the Spectrum section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The film festival will be held in the Netherlands from January 23rd to February 3rd of next year.
“Kuroyuri Danchi” is Nakata Hideo’s (best known as the director of “Ring”) first horror movie in 6 years, and Director Nakata worked on the script together with scenario writers, Kato Junya and Miyake Ryuta.
The movie is set at a decrepit multi-unit apartment named “Kuroyuri Danchi” where mysterious deaths occur repeatedly since 13 years ago. It depicts terrifying incidents that happen to “Asuka” (Maeda) who recently moved in without knowing about the fact, and a special sanitary worker, “Sasahara” (Narimiya) who happens to visit the apartment in order to clean up the belongings of an old person who died alone.
This will be the first time for the director to exhibit his work at the film festival, however, there is no plan for the director or any cast member to visit this film festival at this moment.
About the movie, the director Nakata says that, “I have never experienced there was a scene in a movie that made me feel like pissing in my pants, no matter how many times I watched it.”
They recently revealed the poster that features a boy named “Minoru” who is supposed to be the key in the story. Reportedly, it has an elaborate effect as the “Minoru”s closed eyes would open when somebody passes by in front of the poster.
“Kuroyuri Danchi” will open in theaters in May of 2013.
