AKB48 reveals the jacket covers for their upcoming single, MV to be directed by Joseph Kahn
It was announced that the music video for AKB48’s upcoming single “Gingham Check” will be directed by famous Korean music video director Joseph Kahn.
Joseph Kahn has worked with various big artists for their music videos, such as U2, Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Backstreet Boys, and more. He also won a Grammy for Eminem’s “Without Me” music video. Mr. Kahn who claims that he grew up watching Japanese pop culture since his childhood days, commented, “I wanted to make the MV very Japanese-like. I hope the fans see it as new style J-POP music video, just like a joyful dreamland which is big scaled and enjoyable.”
The jacket covers for the 27th single were also revealed. There will be “Type-A” which will be Oshima Yuko solo version, and “Type-B” which will feature top 16 members from the general election. Each type will have 2 different editions.
“Gingham Check” is scheduled for a release on August 29th that will be right after Maeda Atsuko’s graduation from the group, and one of the coupling tracks for “Type-A” titled “Yume no Kawa” is said to be the send-off song for Maeda.
